Peggy was born as Margaret Carter and is the daughter of Harrison and Amanda Carter. She studied at the St Martin-In-The-Fields High School for Girls.
She became member of the British Royal Military in 1931 at the beginning of World War II. She served as officer of the British Armed Forces Special Air Service, before she joined the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) as agent. She was one of the most prominent agents of the SSR during World War II.
She is tough, resilient and stands strong whenever she is mistreated and it doesn't matter if that is happen by a man or woman. She will lie if the situation calls for it while and will do whatever is needed to get the job done as loyal soldier.
She infiltrates in Castle Kaufmann, which is the headquarters of SS general Johann Schmidt in november 1940. He's the leader of Adolf Hitler's top secret science division named HYDRA. She frees disguised as maid Eva the captured scientist Abraham Erskine, who is the creator of the Super Soldier Serum and they escape out the castle. Due the success of her mission enables the SSR to start with the secret Project Rebirth, which develops the Super Soldier Serum in order to make an army of Super Soldiers. She befriends the frail US Army soldier Steve Rogers which she meets in pub during the project.
Her friend Steve is the only soldier who's transformed into an Allied Super Soldier with the serum when the Project Rebirth abrupt ends in 1943. She assists him to become the first superhero of the world named Captain America and falls in love of him. Peggy and Captain America started working together and both become romantically involved during the war. The two fought on different missions and their relationship became stronger and stronger.

He manages to come on board, just before the airplane flies in the air. He kills Johann and the other Hydra soldiers and has one option to land the plane on the waters of the Northern Atlantic Ocean. Peggy has contact with Steve in the plane, knowing that this would result in his death. He claimed during the landing that there is not enough time to land and they lose all communications with the plane. He's seemingly dead after losing all contact at the end of the war in 1945. She shall never forget Captain America and his dead would affect her life for many years.

Her talents as soldier and spy could not prevent that a Nazi-spy is sneaked in the secret laboratory. The spy uses his American alter ego Fredrick Clemson in order to join a few high-ranking American army officers in order to get info about the Super-Soldier Project. The spy kills the Professor who is responsible for the creation of the Serum. She captures the last high-ranking HYDRA officer Werner Reinhardt and continues with her work at the SSR, when the War is ended.
She works under cover as SSR agent at the New York Bell Company following the end of the war. Peggy lives together with former allied soldier Colleen O'Brien in New York City. She marries him and became mother of a son and daughter. She became later S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and became colleague of Howard Stark. She helps Howard to clear his name because he was accused by SSR agents of selling weapons to enemies of the U.S. She continues as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent during the turbulent years of the Cold War.
Peggy is the older aunt of Sharon Carter and was girlfriend of Captain America during World War II. She tells her niece Sharon about the war and her adventures with Captain America and the allies. These stories inspires Sharon to follow in the footsteps of her aunt in order to become an S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.
